Poor Delivery Service!

It's been sooo long since my previous post, dated Nov 10 2010. However, it's not a good note I'm about to start for my first post in 2011. It's a pissed off post!

Yesterday, I went with my family to buy a new TV at the only MEGASTORE that starts with C, you know who, since the one at home is spoilt after like 14 years? We bought a 42inch LCD TV and paid for a weekend delivery charge of $39.90 to be delivered today dated 22 April 2011 between 3-7pm.

We waited and waited till around 6.30pm. My mum was pissed alr as we had a bad experience with this company previously, which was many years ago, a bed mattress wasn't delivered thus we cancelled the order.

And after many years, we decided to give this company another chance by purchasing from them thinking, alright times have changed and the market is more competitive now, perhaps their service has improved.

Well well well, when i called the Hotline, they claimed that there wasn't any appointment made to deliver the TV! Suppressing my anger, I decided to drive to the MEGASTORE and demand an explanation.

What I got from the customer service officer was THERE WAS A BUG IN THEIR COMPUTER SO DELIVERY WASN'T MADE! At that point of time, it was boiling point for me. I was thinking a company so massive has the IT professionals to set up a clinic to repair computers but a bug is able to interfere the delivery system. WTF man!

How to gain consumer trust this way? The officer claims his about to call us and said we are the fourth customer to experience delivery problems today dated Friday 22 april 11. If there's a problem by the 2nd customer, why didn't you call us and informed by then?!

This case may seems small but a small crack in a ship could actually sink it. Bloody waste of my time.

Hi everyone. After a long hiatus, messy kitchen is back for it's third installment. On the plate would be Vegetarian Fusilli w eggs. You may be wondering how is it possible to be vegetarian when there's eggs.

The fusilli is made from vegetables ingredient so the pasta is vegetarians but not the dish. Get it? Haha!

Ingredients needed

1. Fusilli

2. Broccoli

3. Celery

4. Eggs

5. Potato

6. Brown Sugar

7. Salt

8. Pasta Sauce Bolognese

First boil a bot of water and pour the fusilli in the boiling water. In the midst 2 tbs of brown sugar and 1 tbs of salt. However, it's up to your personal preference.

On the other hand, start on another pot for the sauce. I pour about half bottle of sauce into the pot and add half cup of water, followed by the vegetables and allow it to simmer for generally 45 mins.

Now back to the other pot, when you see the fusilli is bloated compared to the size you just poured it, its time to bring it out, else it will turn soggy.

After 45 mins, pour the fusilli into the sauce pot and stir with medium heat. If the water in the sauce pot is drying up, add accordingly.

Fry an egg and place on the cooked pasta! and done!

Recently, I've been feeling extremely sleepy at some point of the day! I don't know what's the main reason but I think the culprit maybe coffee. As I've received another assignment of work, I needed the extra perks that a coffee can bring to make myself feel, more awake and energetic.

But because my leave is from wed-sun, I stopped drinking coffee for awhile, simply because I don't need it as I'm able to sleep a little more. However, at some point I felt so so sleepy but when I try to sleep, I just can't seem to fall asleep.

I decided to google the disadvantages of drinking coffee. And the results are shocking! actually not really, I'm just creating the hype. HAHA

It states that excessive coffee consumption can cause anxiety, RESTLESSNESS, insomnia etc.

It's kinda weird as I drink coffee once a day. I'm not convinced so I google about the "withdrawal symptons of not drinking coffee"

According to this website, the symptoms I believed that I'm having is known as "Caffeine Symptoms" It states that the withdrawal effect can begin as soon 12 hours after stopping your intake. They are at their worst after 24-48 hours, and can last for up to a week. OMG! This is like if you stop taking Heroin

and become like this!

HAHA this is just for laugh! You won't get withdrawal symptoms when eating cereals!

But rather this!

For those who are facing the same problems with me, the site states that cutting back by half a cup of coffee is a recommended pace.

Welcome to MK 2. Today I will be cooking an American Breakfast. Not so much of the authentic one though but my version even though I love bacons! but I forgot to buy. Anyway, the dish will be called my American Breakfast!

The ingredients are

1. 2 Pancakes *ready made*

2. 2 Sausages

3. Brocoli

4. Carrots

5. 2 Eggs

The reason why I chose to make this breakfast is because firstly breakfast is very important as it marks the start of our entire day. It is important to have adequate energy and mind to do whatever needs to be done in the later part of the day such as work, school or other activities as one deem fits.

And calling mcdelivery for breakfast everyday isn't economical as well. SO why not make one 'BIG Breakfast' yourself. Personally I love the pancakes from mc so pancakes are definitely in the list of my breakfast.

Now, lets move on to purchasing the ingredients. Firstly, we have pancakes. Well, if you have the time and tools why not make a pancake by yourself. I wanted to try that but I don't really have the time. So I bought the ready made pancakes. It's around 12 pc for $8.90 so it's quite affordable.

For sausages, I always buy chicken frank coz I ate this hotdogs since young, so I'm kind of attached to this brand.

For brocoli, carrots and eggs, it's easily available at the vegetable section of Fairprice, the usual supermarket I patronized.

Now for the cooking part. I placed the 2 pancakes in my toaster for around 4 minutes and it will be soft to eat, of course mc is better but hey! this is cheaper! :)

Next, will be to cook the sausages on the pan, stir fry with olive oil. To let the sausage cooked faster, cut some parts of the sausage but not totally detached it. This will allow the inner sausage to be cook faster as well.

For brocoli and carrots, stir fry on the pan with olive oil, add 2 pinch of salt for flavor and 200ml of water to refrain the veggies from getting burnt.

And finally the scramble eggs. To make scramble eggs like those of mc, the secret is very simple and I'm gonna reveal it here! First the oil must cover the entire pan so that the bottom of the eggs will not get burnt easily. After you add the eggs, just add 100 - 200 ml of water to the pan.

Do not stir. Just let the eggs absorb the moisture and once the water are absorbed into the eggs, there you go mc lookalike scramble eggs.

To add on to the resemblance, sprinkle black pepper and salt on to the eggs and WALA! Scramble Eggs!

I hope the brand new look gives the blog a more classic look. Anyway, this is the first post on Messy Kitchen. Today I'm gonna be cooking.

1. Sauteed Vegetables (Carrots & Celeries)

2. Charboiled Chicken

3. Sweet Potatoes

Before cooking, what I usually

do is, I will surf the net and look up any feasible recipes online.

With the help of the internet, almost anything is possible to aid me in cooking.

I went to the supermarket and bought the ingredients which is the vegetables, chicken and sweet potatoes.

For the carrots, I usually choose the baby carrots because it has a sweeter taste compared to full grown carrots. Celeries wise, I would purchase the USA celery because it's crunchier.

For the chicken, I chose the chicken breast as they contain lesser amount of fats compared to thighs and wings.

And I just chance upon the sweet potatoes and decide to try something with it, out of curiosity.

Next, let's head back to the kitchen. So what I'm gonna do is to wash all the main ingredients that I've bought. This is very important to keep the hygiene of the food up to standard else you risk of food poisoning.

Afterwhich, I'll cut the carrots and celeries. The first time I try cutting it was pretty tedious. Then I found out that instead of the edge of the knife, it's easier to cut using the end of the knife, which is nearer to the handler.

It's better to sharpen the knife for easy handling when cutting. Always remember "Don't cut the knife towards yourself and you will never get cut alright"

To slice the vegetables better, I supposed you have to practice many many times to really master the skills of cutting. For the chicken breast, personally I find it hard to slice the chicken because the meat itself is soft, so it's hard to cut. I suggest to cook the chicken first then cut it, it will be much easier.

For the sweet potatoes, on the net it says to bake just like how we bake potatoes. Initially I thought I have an oven at home but it turn out to be a TOASTER as mentioned by Jun Hui. HAHA! I didn't know until today.

So this is the 'Oven' I used to bake the potatoes

Putting the sweet potatoes aside, I will cook the chicken.

Basically the oil I used is Olive oil as it has more benefits compared to normal cooking oil

as it cut the risk of cancer, reduces heart disease etc and its said to

help keep a lower body weight.

So practically it's a healthier choice.

I do not have pictures to show the frying because my hands are

busy cooking.

Basically what I do is

1) Add 2 pinch of salt to the chicken depending on the size and

if you want to eat healthily maybe you add less salt

2) Put around 1/4 tablespoon of soy sauce and marinate the chicken.

3) Add the chicken to the heated pan and stir-fry till roasted.

Roasted is you can see the chicken turning brown at some parts.

Or you can taste the chicken.

After the chicken is done, I will stir fry the vegetables.

1) Sprinkle some salt on the vegetables

2) Add the vegetables to the pan

3) Add 1/4 teaspoon of chicken stock

4) Add some water to prevent the vegetables from getting burnt.

And by the time, the sweet potatoes are done.

At the end of it just put everything nicely on a plate.

I prefer to decorate my food because I believe before your mouth taste the food,

the appearance needs to be tantalizing.

And there you go, Sweet potatoes with Charboiled chicken and Sauteed Vegetables!

ps: this post took me 4 hours to complete including editing photos. It's rather tedious.

Reasons for introducing this segment is readers comment that it's too mundane and not exciting anymore to read. Well it's because I'm working almost 7 days a week so I don't have adequate time to come visit my blog at all.

And because in the past, I buy take away frequently, which I find is really unhealthy in the long run hence one day, I decided to ransack the fridge and see what I can find, and whip out a dish or two.

I'm still a beginner in cooking so don't expect the food I cooked, to be of chef's recommendation standard. My purpose is to share my cooking experience with every amateur who cooks at home and to make this blog not that bland.

Once, edison asked a smart polytechnic student to measure the volume of a lightbulb. The student used all sorts of apparatus, took 2 hours and excitedly returned to edison and told him the result. Why when people walking on elevated platform, posing and walking, walking and posing are called cat walk? Perhaps the way felines walked are elegant? And that humans idenify this method of walking as classy and stylish. Just curious about the name.

Recently, I've attended an events & shows training. They taught us about how to introduce oneself when casting, how to pose and of course the catwalk.

Initially, it's kind of hilarious when everyone looked themselves at the mirror and pose according to the instructor advise. Next would be one by one, we have had to go up, stare at the mirror and introduce ourself.

I felt rather embarrased the first time but towards the second try it's nothing but confidence. Because what one got to do is just be composed and talk. Won't hurt anyway. Haha.

Next is the catwalk, oh this segment is especially fun. There was the music and the techniques. Everyone just laughed it off when either of us did something wrong, like walked too fast or posed in a wrong fashion.

And yet again something learnt to bring back home.

Naan & Sweet Potato

Hello everyone!! I'm so excited to be typing here right now! For there is only one reason I could be doing this, means I'm quite free from my job(s). After tonnes of hectic work & sweat & probably some blood, I'm able to indulge in one of the greatest things in life, FOOD.

So I've watched a couple of shows and err reviews and decided to introduce 2 buffet places that is value for money. First up, we have an indian restaurant named Yantra. It's a fine dining restaurant and for it's effort of being one, it's cuisine is being exhibited at the recent World Gourmet Summit 2010. Located at tanglin mall, it's a tad too far from the mrt unless one drives or cabs.

Let's talk about the ambience

The buffet consists of a variety of curries, roasted chickens, yogurts and indian condiments. Though the variety is rather little, but the quality of the food is definitely top notch

Haha im sorry that I've covered the curries on the rice. The rice is the bomb! It's pure white and fluffy. With a scoop, you can see grain by grain clearly. It's the direct contrast of a sushi rice.

And awhile later, the waitress serves NAAN. I love naan because it's not as oily as prata but has the prata "look" and for this naan, it isn't just a run of the mill naan.

It tasted a lil sweet perhaps the chef added sugar in it. I liked!

And there's the chef making naan. FYI, making of a naan is pressing the dough evenly and sticking it to the furnace like stove and charcoaled. Truly authentic northern indian food!

Our many many servings! I liked the steel bowl that they placed the naan it. It accentuates the naan.

Now let's try the soup. It taste like canned soup but I think canned soup taste better?! HAHA!

Now the dessert. see the milky blue dessert in the shooter. THat's blueberry in condensed milk. It's super sweet. After the flavory curries, the dessert neutralizes your taste bud.

Notice the yellow ball, that's actually coconut! This as well taste so good, i ate like 50 of them! no im just kidding ahaha.

On the top right hand, it's glutinous rice. Hanny's fav, it has a warm fuzzy texture.

On the top left hand, that's white yogurt. one word "YUCKS!"

Next up, we met up with jun hui whose sick but came down to meet us. Played some L4D and have another round of buffet! I know we just had a buffet earlier but then it's buffet.

Besides it's porridge and its cheap. So why not.

THis taiwanese porridge is at orchard apt hotel at killiney road. just for 13.80nett, eat all you want.

It's indeed the world cup fever. For me at least. I don't usually watch EPL, Barclay or even S league. Oh wait, who watched S League? HAHA!

I must say it's the atmosphere that enticed me to watch world cup. I've been watching world cup almost everyday with my friends at various places. We will drink kopi at my house kopitiam where there's live screening or macdonald in pasir ris, tampines or ecp. And occasionally at our friend's house.

Whenever there's big matches, it will be a FULL HOUSE especially macdonald. My friends and I would have to stand. But never mind the tired ankles, when everyone cheer for their team, its hyperventilating and fun! and I'm lovin' it.

The world cup changed my body clock totally. My dinner becomes my breakfast, my breakfast becomes no breakfast and lunch would be lucky to have if i wake up early. LOL!

Other than world cup, it would be my working life. Other than my mom job, I'm taking up other events job. Because the mom job sucks to the max! The pay was not as good as its promised. Dammn. My friend got axed cos of poor performance. But its because the respondent are not cooperative. oh well drop this job for a better one.

And so because of the atrocious pay, I got to take up events job. I worked for one event which has wondergirls showcase! haha a pity i didn't bring camera. They are really good at live! and the figure is wow. I enjoy these events job because i enjoyed. make sense? haha.

The other is the volkswagen showcase and one particular model caught my eye. The schirocco! the body shape, interior and engine looks almost perfect. Dream car for now.

Today I picked up a paper from the news-stand. One particular article caught my eye. For international readers, this is a singapore paper. So the headline reads smth about are teenagers getting bolder these days followed by numerous voyeuristic shots of couples making, frenching and petting in public.

On the other side of the paper, it showed the stand of 6 external sexual education companies, their take on current teenagers behavior. They talk about teenagers now is different compared to teens 15 years ago, where internet and tv were not rampant and making out in public is not a big deal as shown on drama serials or movies.

Having said that, several sex education vendors would promote abstinence from premarital sex. I think it is rather absurd to promote such things in this era. We must be realistic as teens are having sex early and teaching abstinence is irrelevant to the group.

And some vendors say its time we deal with reality to educate students on how to use condoms, deal with internet pornography and cyber relationship.

All I can say HEY! the reality is we all have steriod hormones in our body called TESTOSTERONE.

To those educators, do u think that people living thousand of years ago has not practiced on abstinence, do u think that having sex before marriage is considered one of the seven deadly sins to certain religion. Why are people whose religion who says having premarital sex is bad. But why are people still doing it?! From Medieval age to Victorian era and Dynasty to dynasty.

Its because most if not all human species have hormones! And when it rages, it will cripple one side of our brain which is essential for logic and judgment. I'm not saying that sex education vendors will not be successful in preaching abstinence but now? really? I think the effect will not make a huge impact on the student population.

It's quite a joke for them to say it's time we deal with reality. You mean last time the sex education we've gone through are fictional happy ever after? No wonder abortions went up from 11,933 in 2007 to 12,222 in 2009.

The only way to stop unwanted teen pregnancies is to remove all testosterone once a baby is born, which unfortunately is impossible. In this case, unwanted teen pregnancies are here to stay! AND abstinence from sex till marriage for ALL to follow is filling up a fishing net with water, effortlessly futile!

It all boils down to self control

Data Charge

The moment I returned from gym, my mum slapped me with a bill from M1. It's not really slap but u noe literally. Because the amount of the bill astonished me!

It is $180 and the data charge alone cost $100! Wa my head immediately blew up. I don't understand why do using internet broadband cost lesser whereas using data charge, I'm being charged more!

So I initiate to pay $100 out of my pocket to offset the bill. Sigh, my wallet was full of notes a minute ago and now there's lesser notes. =( After handing over the 100 buck to my mum. It seems like my world crashed on me. I fell into a deep deep depression.

I felt so upset that I don't want to talk to anyone or go anywhere but my room. At that point my life seem meaningless. I know 100 buck may not be alot but the thought of paying for some kb that is flying everywhere throughout singapore odurless and invisible really infuriates me.

At that instant, I felt so tired which usually I won't, so I just tucked into my bed and hid under the blankets. After waking up, I felt slightly better. Data charges really is ......... i can't find words to describe it.

Hope my misfortune would be a lesson to you.

When was the last time I updated? Even I can't remember. It seems long.

Today I felt slightly nervous. Many things went through my mind. What if it's confirmed? What can I do or what SHOULD I do? It's been a few months after the ns check up at CMPB and I got to go for a 2D echocardiocolography test, as my heart, deviates towards the left side of my chest.

I missed the first appointment, as such, my next appointment, which is today, was at Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital. Dad was nice to send me there, despite having to work. The hospital is semi-operational for only a month or two.

On one side of the building is built and furnished, the other can be seen with yellow helmets walking around. I was slightly early for an 8.40 appointment so I sat at a bench, which faced the half built building.

It was like a show of many BOB the builders playing a skit only to be shown, on a construction site. I felt that somehow construction workers in singapore lacks recognition from the local people. I mean they are the ones who paved our roads, linked our pipes and build our buildings. At the least a group photograph of them shall be placed at the building for appreciation?

Anyhow, time finally ticks to 8.40 and I head to clinic 53 for the echo scan. I was told to removed my shirt and then the doctor pasted three round tape on various parts of my chest.

Afterwhich, she used an equipment that looks like a nintendo wii console rub filled with lubricant and started scanning my chest. I was like oh Wow lubricant, if u noe what i mean. Lol.

At first I felt a tingling and cooling sensation and then there's the pain. She pushed the equipment into my chest. I was like "oh fuk can u please stop pushing it in", then it came to my mind she's juz doing her job. Hence, I just bite my teeth and wait for everything to be over.

I was lying on the left side and the equipment on my left thus I couldn't see what was going on. All i can hear is my heartbeat. It was pretty loud. Like thu dum! thu dum! thu dum! So i tried to hold my breath to lower my heartbeat, in case she thought I'm excited, which I'm leaning more towards what's gonna happen next.

It took ard an hr for the entire scan. The doctor told me that my heart was normal and that the scan at CMPB can be inaccurate at times. I was like Thank God! I'm fine. But then again if the scan at CMPB is the bottle neck, I think they should implement six sigma to improve the processes and minimize variabilities from occurring.

The doctor says I'm either Pes A or Pes B. Hurray!

marée, seafood in french. I had dinner at the glasshouse. I thought the ambience would be rather soothing but there seems to be a crowd and it was noisy.

There's a bar for some liquor and chills.

Mussels saucee, I'm not a big fan of mussel but these were good. The soupy sauce compliments the mussels but it can be consumed on its own.

Seafood Platter, perhaps I had the mussels earlier on, so the platter now doesn't taste delicious.

Squids, it is chewy and nice but yea the more I had it, the more I felt like puking. Overdose of mussels i guess.

The service was really bad. Took a long time to get the drinks, the sauce and the bill. Shortage of manpower and crowds are not an excuse, for me that is.

Today a small kid sat beside me and asked:"What's the worst kind of person?"

I replied:" The worst kind of person is one who is a bad person but thinks he/she is a good person, that's the worst kind of person."

BangKok- Tom Yam, See Hum and Fake Lumps

I just got back from BangKok(bkk) last week before the red shirts march to Platinum Mall which I've been there twice.

My initial opinion of bkk is its very hazy and traffic is real bad. Everywhere is DANGER! Apparently when I touched down, it's not. The airport is clean and they are smart to place impulse products on the aisle leading to the checkpoint counter.

But before tt, I need to emphasize on how one of my friends, Tang reacted when we were on the plane. So when the plane was taking off, I started singing "Baby are you down, down, down, down, down! He replied: "Andy can u please shut up." I can tell his afraid. HAHA! am a sadist so it's funny to me.

We took taxi to our Hotel. The weather was as hot as singapore. The cars is what we can find in singapore as well. Toyota Fortuner is like everywhere! FYI it's a really huge car smth like lexsus but bigger! And their roads are rather well paved.

I'm thinking their standard of living is not bad at all.

In my taxi were Wenjie, Serena and Darryl. In the other were Tang, Brandon, Tricia and Ji Jie. I noticed another thing, the taxi meter jumped really slow. Like 5min one jump? How nice would it be if singapore's taxi jumped like this. At least, my heart won't be pumping as fast as the meter.

We checked into our hotel in the mid-afternoon, Hope Land Hotel. I must say, it's a pretty good hotel. Cheap but Posh. Reminds me of Gossip Girl Serviced Apartment. I'd wish I stay in one of those.

No toothpaste, No Towel, No soap~ No Worries coz its Serviced! How cool is that. Morning, take lift to level 3, got breakfast. Go out got bell boy open door and hail taxi. What a life!

I'm not going to go day by day on our daily activities coz it'd be very cumbersome and long winded even though now, I feel is rather long?

Hmm where's the clubs?

So Brandon who came to bkk before will be our tour guide. He brought us to various places to eat. We visited Night Markets, famous shopping landmarks e.g. MBK, Platinum Mall.

The guys definitely shopped more than the girls! Even though Serena can beat us hands down with a bed of loots. We bought T-Shirts, T-Shirts, T-Shirts, T-Shirts, T-Shirts, Shoes and of course my mummy's Buddha Plates. Yea laugh go ahead. It's not cheap or am I a bad bargainer? I will stick with the latter.

The food is Bkk is GASTRONOMICALLY DELICIOUS! Green Curry! Oyster Omellete! Crispy Pork! Kway Chap! Pork Burger from Burger King! & Tom Yam Soup!

Woah, after a day's walk with tired legs, one have this for a meal will definitely regained your lost energy!

And did I mentioned, the boys tried Thai Massage. It's the traditional massage so no special whatsoever. I was rather apprehensive before the massage because I'm afraid it's too pain with all the back bending and arm twisting massage seen before. But it turned out to be relaxing.

It really rejuvenates your spirit. The masseuse is really good and its only 150 baht, ard 7SGD for an hour. It's cheap so to speak.

We went clubbing as well. They were raving about RCA, clubbing spot in bkk. When we got there only 20 years old can enter. What a spoiler. Even though my birthday is on the same month, they still do not permit.

So we tried Hollywood, which was recommended by the taxi driver who sent us to RCA. He said Hollywood was better and nicer. When we reached there, it was those Big Neon Signboards and waitress standing on red carpets. The place was okay. They don't really have dancefloor. Just performance on stage and playing MVs on wide projection screens.

After the performance, 4 of us, Brandon, Tang, Wenjie and Me got on the stage and just dance!

HAHA we don't care coz we are on foreign land. So What the heck, Just do it!

The trip was fun, rather fun. love the cheap clothes. Now I noe some singapore retailers marked up freaking high. I liked the feeling of 5 big guys sitting in a 2 ppl tuk tuk! Hows tt for a guinness* record

And on our last minute shopping, Wenjie wants to bring back some local specialities. So I told him why not just bring one tranny home? HAHAHA!

NPCC Meetup

Had a quick casual meet-up with some of my NPCC Mates. As usual, only Raudah, Sarah and Hayati turned up. We have known each other for freaking 7 years! Tts super long.

Ate at Ramen Ten, century square. First, I will talk about the food. Ordered a Spicy Salmon Bento comes with Salmon Fillet, Tako Pachi *weird combination? I noe right* orange and japanese salad.

I thought the food was average. Perhaps the fact I had a deluxe big breakfast at mac in the morning so I wasn't hungry enough to taste the food.

So the conveyor belt were having a promo, all white plates at 99cent. So it's cheap right, but the varieties are so little that ruadah and sarah had to wait before they get to see, what they want to eat. Good marketing but poor operational strategy.

As I was already full, the food on the belt don't really interest me but one plate caught my eye. It got this really huge rice covered with red spicy flakes. It tasted quite good haha.

Hayati came and she ordered Tempura set, which I feel the portion is way too little. Luckily there's salmon to cover it.

Chinese New Year 2010

So the previous Macau! post and the current one I'm writing is super far apart *date*

I supposed by the time, you read this, Cny has gone by 2 or 3 days. Time flies really fast. Wonder if it's good or bad?

If something bad happens, I'm sure you want it to be pass quickly. Of course, when you are having a wonderful time, you want time to stop? and enjoy every sauce of it. Well, things happen. People come and go. We'd just have to accept things the way it is. agree?

Went to Ah Gong's house. And we were the first again. -_- I told my mummy bout going later since the rest of my family will be gg later as well. But she says we must leave at good auspicious hour. Well, what to do. Traditions.

NExt, we went to late great grand mother's house. It's the same, whole bunch of cuzz just sit there, wait for ang pows to roll into our pocket and then stone. Gambling, I'm not very into as well. After Ah Ma passed away, the fun is juz not there anymore. With Ah Ma, somehow it seems more FUn and thrilling. Ah Ma is a true Banker. She is zai!
So ya, not into gambling now.

Chinese New Year is getting more and more boring. The same itineries from first new year I celebrated till now is so not something to look forward. As more people passed on, the crowd gets lesser. So after venice,we head to watch this coold dragon flying laser show.

So i thght its some stupid mundane show with mere 4 d effects. But when i enter the theatre. The layout totally caught my eye! Nobody was sitting coz theres no chair. ANd the screen were everywhere. It's like a Orb like screen covering us like a bubble.

Creative concept I must say.

COOL RIGHT! The effects dammn solid. the dragons can fly around the screen up down anywhere.

Day Tour in Macau!

Today, we'd be doing some sightseeing ard Macau! As usual, love the weather! cooling and not hot like Singapore.

We went to visit this place which overlooks the straits of macau, nt the exact name for it though.

And to a statue that looks like the goddess of mercy but it's not! It's actually an angel or smth cldnt remember but it really resemble "guan yin ma"

Next, we went to visit Macau's local specialty store. But all this store as we know, erm the tour company do receive comission or smth from the store itself juz to lure tourist dollars in their pocket. Anyway, lets not dwell further into this.

The casino was huge! A pity i cldnt snap shots to put it here. bt nv mind. juz imagine banker, player, table and chips and many sounds. and u will get a casino.

So as my dad begin throwing money to the casion of which he lost $300 to just blackjack. *shake head*

We went to walk ard. the tour guide says the venice city was so huge that till now she havent been able to complete the mall in a single day! Tats how big.

Cheng Fang's Residence

The day started with the chilling temperature of 13 degree celcius. Before we boarded the bus, there's smoke emitting from our mouth which is super cool.

Here we are at Cheng Fang's Residence. It's houses the first overseas scholar from China. It's not really the scholar studying abroad but more of a political agenda to demonstrate good chinese ties with other countries.

Enough said. Initially I thought the place was rather boring.

But as I walked, I've discovered this place actually creates tonnes of good photos opportunities!

And we got brought to a cultural show. This show where the artiste rapidly change the face mask amazes some of the audience present. Somehow I caught the trick each time he wants to change his mask, he would lift his head in a quick motion and the mask will flip in to the top of the helmet. Perhaps I'd seen it wrongly but it seems this way.

I happened to chance upon a quite corner beside the stage where the elegant staircase stood.

Dinner at Seafood Street

Talking about seafood. Pearl River is famous for its MASS AMOUNT OF SEAFOOD. Because it's beside the sea. Lame but logical reason.

So we were brought to this place called the Seafood street. Where a row of seafood restaurants can be found.

We were given a VIP room which is totally cool! We usually don't do tt in Singapore.

The restaurant maintains good hygiene of it's plates & utensils. We can see from the plastic wrappings of it.

This is called "Man Yu" It's something like crispy prawn but a fish taste.

And so the Seafood were the stars of the dinner. We have Fresh Abalone

During our dinner, there was a girl who served us. Like someone whose in charge of serving our room. So she was abit hyper and stuff and when she saw no one touch the crabbies.

She went hyperventilating and saying its such a waste. And then she did smth that appalled me.
She demonstrated to us how to eat the crab and she started feeding some of our family members. I'm like err wait a minute, just so u noe, they are married men. It's not very nice etc.

But then when I heard she's 18. I'm like hmmm okay maybe she's still young so she sees nth wrg. oh well.

After the dinner ended, went to stroll around the seafood street. Just some short walk and the seafood are all alive.

Next is shopping at nu ren jie "Women Street"
Most of us bought some shoes. And I enjoyed bargaining! it's fun when the vendor actually lower the price which they should of course, as they marked up so high!

Mummy buying shoe. She always buy shoe because her foot is painful. quite waste money coz i noe sometimes its because of the beauty of the shoe but the most important question is whether it's comfortable. Tts what shoes are for. Designs are second.

And we headed back to the hotel. It's a 3 star hotel. We got a suprise for Gugu, my uncle coz it's his birthday on 25th december!

China's Theme Park

An almost 2 hour trip from the city. This Resort was built by the government for their people to seek leisure and recreation. The amount spent was $300milion RMB!

But it's so far from the city. When our group arrived, it's like a ghost town. Not much crowd there. I supposed our family was the biggest group there?
All I can say is compared to Hong Kong Disneyland, this is nothing. There's nothing to be excited about, really.

The good thing is, there's no crowd, no crowd means No queue!

In Zhu Hai's Zebra crossing, car don't stop for pedestrian. The only time where car stopped is when a REAL zebra is crossing. I noe it sounds lame bt this is not from me bt from the tour guide named Xiao Pan.

As we exit the theme park to the coach which is a lost investment i guess! coz there's no ppl!
We came across some arabic inspired structures. I felt the building and river gives me a feeling of calmness and elegance. Don't know why bt this is how I felt on the spot.

The day is getting dark so is our faces in the photo.

When I saw what Da yi and mummy were wearing. All those winter clothing stuff. It struck to me that winter season is good! coz u get to wear more nice clothes and boot shoes. Mix and match, it's endless!

Sea of Pearls

I didn't spend my Christmas Eve, Christmas in Singapore. I spent it in "Zhu Hai" a.k.a. Pearl Sea in english.

Our family of 15 members went for the trip except my sis coz she gt to work. Our trip is an annual kind of thing? Every year, we the family, will sit down and discuss where to go for holidays etc. Which is good coz I love travelling.

The day started at 4am for everyone to assemble in the airport terminal. It's too early and I'm not as excited as the previous year, where we went to Hong Kong. Don't know why either. So we did all the check ins, body checks and boarding the plane.

The flight is super long, close to 4 hours. I don't really fancy long flights because you can't stretch or walk around plus theres nothing to do on the plane, except sleeping.

And there was the seating problems. Sometimes the agency juz randomly put a group of people in different rows. Then there was the hassle of requesting for a change of seat to the person sitting on it. This will cause some chaos.

Since its a morning flight, we got to see the sun rise. It's really beautiful! From a dark sky to a bright orange sky.

We arrived around 2pm local time, Macau.

Afterwhich took a coach to cross the custom from Macau and then to Pearl Sea, China.

The moment we stood out of the Chinese Custom, a pickpocket was caught in front of our eyes! The thing is, the police was so near the act of crime and yet the pickpocket have the audacity to steal!

We didn't head straight to the hotel which I wish we did coz I'm exhausted from the long haul of flight. The temperature was around 18 degree celcius. Cold but not extreme.

Went for lunch at a restaurant. The design is really classy and elegant, I liked!

The food was not bad but the prawns were really small.

Next we went to the Sea of the Pearl Goddess. Legend has it that because Pearl Sea has frequent storms therefore the Goddess would use a powerful Pearl to ward off the Storms hence the ppl construct a statue to show their admiration for her.

Check out this cool place. It's Fishspa! This is not for the faint hearted. HAHA just kidding! For me, it was ultra ticklish. But for eunice she can take it coz her skin is thick. LOL! I'll bet she will kill me when she sees this. *peace eunice*

Look at those hungry "Doctor Fishes" that's what they called it. Eunice is more tolerant in the fish nibbling. I'm practically shouting and banging the table when those fishes nibble on my toes and ankle. It was SO TICKLISH!

Anyway, the ambience is rather good. There's even internet for you to surf while the "Doctor Fish" serves you.

Getting Back to Vietnam

Previously, I said I was gonna put a hiatus to the postings on Vietnam. Now I'm back. Perhaps I have nothing to blog about at this moment but this.

This is a Vietnamese Chinese Temple. I Wasn't following the tour guide hence I do not know this temple belongs to which god. Was just busy taking shots of the temple.

All I can say is it's a complete chinese temple without vietnamese influence. Pure oriental.

After the visit to the temple, we went to a mosque. It's a rare place to find I guess. I'm not really sure of the religion of vietnamese but there aren't many malays around. I'm glad that the government still recognise the minorities.

The bus then took us to a Vietnamese Market. I felt that it looks abit like Bras Basah or People's Park Complex with its greying paint.

One can practically find anything. Ranging from Helmets to which jeremiah and I nearly bought but didnt, coz we didn't gt the price we wanted.

Furthermore, it's a distributor's market. This means distributor will not entertain one piece or two piece sale.

And we were lucky to meet the guy who helped us to take the photo back at the chinese temple. Probably swedish from his accent.

Oh and I came across bags of colored rice. I thought there's only white rice and brown rice. Who noes there's orange rice. Haha the world is much bizzare than we think.

Did I mention the weather was freaking hot at that point of time? We walked to a roadside stall and found this super cooling drink! it's so cooling that I ordered another one. It's something like grass jelly but not jelly. Wished Singapore had that too.

Singapore's Weddings

Ding Ding Ding... the wedding bells ring. Ding Ding Ding.... your money change into a wedding ring. Ding Ding Ding...and so come everlasting. Singapore Weddings. Focusing on traditional chinese weddings. The previous weekend was seeing 2 weddings of my relatives. It was plain boring! But the food was good though. HAHA.

Personally, I felt that these weddings activities had not changed in years, or should I say ever since I was first exposed to being in a wedding. It is utterly boring. First, when you enter the hotel, it will be the cocktail session, where guest would roam around, holding a glass of orange or sprite. NO COCKTAILS AT ALL! Bullshit!

And if you happen to attend a distant relative's wedding, there will be tonnes of people you wouldn't know. So you'd just stand there, not knowing what to do except just sipping and sipping that glass of "cocktail" juice.

There's no emcee or event manager to manage the crowds. Like telling people what to do. or perhaps some fringe activites to entertain the crowds. It's just standing like bodyguards for 30-45mins unless of course you found a seat which is like searching a needle in the vast seas.

Moving on, when everyone started settling down at their designated table. If you do not have a full force of family to occupy the entire table, then most likely, you'd be dump with some random strangers who you have not met in your whole life. When the food were served, everyone will be "erm you eat first.." the other person will reply "no no you go ahead"

On the surface it's called table manners but deep down its called FAKE. If you are hungry just eat, after all it's called a wedding dinner for some reason.

Intermittenly, the bride and groom will walk in followed by "Yum Seng" *chinese culture to cheer and give well wishes to the newly wed* and TATS ALL.

I just hope there can be some performance like a few songs or dance performance by professionals or at least involve your guest with some thing. For instance, open up the floor and let everyone whose hype up to let their hair down and dance through the night.

This is sure gonna be one memorable wedding and not a forgettable one. My vision for future Singapore Weddings.

Muthu's Mother Briyani

I'M BACK! Today we have here, Muthu's Mother Briyani. Why is it Muthu's Mother because she's the one who cooked it. Anyhow, it is in view of Deepavali that muthu invited us to celebrate this festive occasion.

He'd moved into a condo and I must say the view is beautiful. The background of his crib, faces the woods with thick trees that instantly shone, when the sun light upon the earth.

It's really a good tool to de-stress when one comes back from a day or school/work. Just looking at the trees alone calms one down.

Food wise, the briyani were delicious!!

The prawns were gigantically enormous. The wings were sinful as chocolate. =0

It's been the 4,5,6 year? whatever tt the jalan raya with npcc mates. Went to different houses. I love'd the corn at Sarah's house. The corn is dammn juicy and sedap! The samosa at raudah's house is ma ma mia. And the Nasi Briyani at Hayati's house is better than the one at Techview! haha.

I went to Shokudo, place for japanese pasta. It's my first time there. Menu looks good. Food taste good. Everything's good. Only price not good. HAHA.

Poverty and Luxury

Vietnam is distinct by the poor and the rich.I will list out an example of the poor.

One of the objectives for our VSL trip is to repair and maintain a dilapidated IT Lab.
The moment we reached, dust piled up the computer desktop's screen and keyboard.
The lab was so ill maintained, one would wonder how could the students attending IT lesson be able to learn in a conducive environment.

The maintenance were rather basic. We've got to check whether the programs, keyboard, mouse, screen and CPU are working or not. Afterwhich, purchase were done at an IT store.

The new computer screen looked so new I wish I could have it. Mine was three years old. I hope no dust pile on it after we leave.

The final time we returned back, we'd replaced the defected parts with new one. Borrowed an air pump from one of the shop and cleared all the dust in the CPUs.

Besides the IT Lab is a abandoned playground. Sounds like a ghost story? haha there's nth much about that. Juz that it looks old and no one use it anymore.

So these are the recreation the commoners get.

Now let's get to the paid to enter theme park. It's name? Dai Nam Themed Park. Inspired by so and so dynasty architecture. What I observed were that the Vietnamese had a strong bond with the Chinese.

Even at the place where we had breakfast. It's built upon oriental design. For this place, not every Vietnamese can afford because of the wide income gap. It's not really a rich playground but nt a free playground. Therefore, it's kind of a constricted access.

Vietcong Tunnel System

Chu Ci, Vietnam. After 10 days of grueling work and fun. We headed to the city of Ho Chi Minh. Chuchi is located about 75 km outside of Ho Chi Minh City (previously known as Saigon) and it was one of the strongholds of Vietcong during the Vietnam war.

This place is famous for the complex tunnel system which was hand-dug by volunteers with hoes and baskets. This tunnel was constructed during the war against French and the construction continued when Americans arrived. This tunnel is about 250km long and it stretches to Cambodia border in the east and goes into Ho Chi Minh City in the south.

ANd it looks really painful if one falls on it. Sometimes, if not all the time, I felt that war is a sad sad thing. No doubt, the army can display their military prowess. But on who? it's not only the enemy soldiers. It's the CIVILIANS who suffered from most of it.

It's not only the physical impact but psychological and social impact as well. War is not as simple as you win, I lose. It is not that simple, really.

The tunnel is really cramped and low. My leg got so cramped when walking halfway. If the journey were longer, I would have juz suffocate inside with the near zero ventilation.

Because vietnamese are smaller size so it's easier for them to travel from point A to point B.

Vietnam Trip Part 1

I decided not to do by day 1 day 2 etc. Coz I probably forget the exact day that did that exact activity. Hence, part 1 may be day 1, 2 or 3 etc.

Anyhow, Vietnam is a wonderful place in some areas and a god forsaken place in others.

The airport of Vietnam looks welcoming. Hopefully the place looks the same as well. Sad to say, it's nt. A tour guide named Jerry from the agency came to fetch us. Then came a mini bus. I thought it was to take the luggage only!

But it was luggage plus Passengers! It was overcrowding. Weather's the same as Singapore. The bus uncle started horn-ing. I thght it was some car or scooter who gt in the way.

Turns out, it's a culture there to inform scooters that the bus is approaching. and Vietnam alone has 4 MILLION scooters! It's really alot! almost equivalent to a population of SG.

And the first thing that GREETED ALL OF US IS THIS!

We had our first lunch at Roma Coffeeshop. Vietnamese called cafe as coffeeshop. Another difference from Singapore.

The food was great. Especially the Kuay Teow Beef Noodle known as PH O~ *fu-er* The soup is alil sweet and the noodles were smooth. Bt portion is compromising.

It's really good :)

We reached the Guest House around evening. It's known as the Vietnam People's Society. Some military places with guards etc. No Hotel sux!

Shared room with jeremiah and colin. The room is liked a normal apartment look. Not really comfortable with it initially. It doesn't look very clean.
