Was raining heavily bt it seems like the "gift" frm heaven didnt affect us since theres shelter all the way frm the carpark.
Brought them to Street Cafe. Another competitor of the uproaring Hong Kong Faze in S'pore.
Surprisingly there's nt much crowd given tat its a Weekend Sunday today. Perhaps the rain from the sky plus the Stock Market deter ppl frm coming out as they are "saving for rainy day."
My parents were first timers at such cafe and they are less receptive to trying new things. tell u more in a while. The ambiance was comfy, weather was cool.
We wrote the order on the paper and the Chinese waitress came to confirm. She talked like a machine gun dom dom dom dom dom dom dom. Hey! I mean theres no one ard the restaurant, where are u rushing to? dad was alil upset bt the service.
Food came alil slow. Bt it still came. First up, Hong Kong Style Noodle. Mum thght it will be abit wet bt it was dry. Dad Tried it and says its gd.
2nd was wonton mee. The Rambling & whimping starts to come out of my dad's mouth. He say it was too dry. Mum agreed. Worst than hawker. Well gt to believe them since they eat more wonton mee than me.
3rd Pork Chop Bun
They use the garlic bread instead of the original bun. So-so. The pork taste like chicken. Overdose of the mayo ruin the flavor.
4th Chicken Chop w fried rice. Erm basically taste like chicken and fried rice. nt trying to be lame here bt nt to sought after though the rice looks auspiciously golden.
5th pork rib. Super Salty.
6th baby kai lan. Expensive and very small serving.
Overall, its overpriced and below average. Bad service. Probably wont go again. Bt dad says only the hong kong style noodle wld bring him back.
Afterwhich, they wanted to eat dessert bt there wasnt any so we settle at the taiwan eatery beside old chang kee.
Mee sua, The vermicelli dose with the thick gravy with the "or lua" oyster. Its spicy so I didnt take another mouth.
"Ai sui" its nt wad u think tat "like to be beautiful." its jelly with lemon. Its very very gd! Superbly refreshing and the lemon was sour bt there more sweetness to cover it. Tats wad I call skill. A lemon tat is sour in the right sense. Gd. The jelly was so~~ smooth like a tofu. Try imagining a jelly tat juz slurp down ur throat. Tis is it.
Chicken cutlet. With the sour plum powder, certainly an appetizer.
