Find Me A Singaporean...

Channel U had played a serial of Find Me A S'porean. Today's episode showed Belinda the host flying to Brazil, St Paulo to look for a S'porean named Stella...It is a very touching show... Stella brought her around Brazil showing her their lifestyles and food...and of course her place of work, her owned chinese restaurant.

A former SIA stewardess who fall in love with her husband on the plane moved with her husband to Brazil and lived there for 20 years. Her paternal father who is 84 this year is the founder of the 1st chinese restaurant in st paulo... His still as strong as a steel, doing the cooking, going to the largest vegetables distribution centres to find the freshest and cheapest vegetable. A role model for Stella...

Stella only celebrated CNY 3 years ago. Which means 17 years she had not celebrate CNY. She showed Belinda the "Chinatown" where she bought new year goodies. The sentimental part falls on the time where belinda brought back S'poreans Delicacies...

The 1st is Bak Gua... then one by one the suprise came. She unveil the belacan her mother made for her..I can see her eyes starts to turn red. Next, belinda took from a white bag, a box of pineapple tart..She opens it and smells it. And started to cry cause she knows her mother made this for her. A sense of nostagia and homesick starts to empower her...with the last suprise a box of spicy prawn cracker...she burst out in tears... A very sensual touching moments. I was touched till I had tears in my eyes. It was really truthful and sympathetic.

Seeing a huge extent of how much would one fellow Singaporeans can missed her home so much! Her family, her friends and the food... For 20 over years she lived in Brazil and could only go back to visit once every 5 years! She deserved my utmost respect for coming out of her comfort zone and lived in an ever changing and unforeseen foreign land.

Count ourselves lucky, Count ourselves blissful but never be complacent. Things you see and do today, tomoro and everyday may be the dream of a person who lives abroad for many years. Cherish what you have. Period.
